The Leontia Gallery - Flesh Exhibition
London, 4th September 2014 - The Leontia Gallery favours work that is dark, exploratory and thought provoking. It believes art should challenge the mind whilst retaining a beautiful aesthetic. September 19th – October 7th, will be its first exhibition of a highly edited selection of contemporary art, from an international group of the most highly anticipated young artists. Curated under the theme of FLESH, the show is visceral, demanding, sensual and dark. Artworks will explore our experience of being a body and our complex relationship with our own flesh, whilst also unlocking themes of alienation, fantasies, desire and destruction.
Artists exhibited will be Magnus Gjoen, Flora Borsi, Mariska Karto and Maria Koshenkova. Magnus has already taken the art world by storm with his provocative and urban works that infuse dark humour into his digital fine art pieces. Internationally exhibited, Magnus is a recognised figure in the art world with his sharp comment on today’s society.
Flora is a young fine art photographer who has already garnered international attention and critical acclaim for her exquisite and surreal photo-manipulations that beautifully visualise dark fantasies and universal emotion. She is among the most highly anticipated young artists of 2014. Accomplished glass artist, Maria Koshenkova, creates fantastical glass hearts, visualising how a heart would look on the outside if it reflected the feelings on the inside. Her pieces capture fragility, strength, brokenness and emotion through her insightful use of this delicate media. Award-winning Marishka Karto has exhibited her beautiful evocative works of the female nude internationally. Her highly technically accomplished and emotionally charged pieces are expertly composed in a renaissance homage. Each series reminiscent of legends, or long lost lore; her characters are ethereal, beautiful and enchanting.
Complimentary drinks will be provided on the opening night and all works exhibited will be for sale. The exhibition will run for 3 weeks at:
