Sara Le-Roy is a Dutch artist based in London, her work focuses on storytelling, folklore and mortality.
Le Roy questions the nature of storytelling and how we are shaped by both traditional folklore and modern day cultural values, exploring these interconnections through her paintings.
Her rich oil paintings are evocative insights into the artists imagined tableaux’s, her paintings often depict figures that upheave from natural and urban settings. The compositions, like collages are drawn from her collection and rearrangement of found and imaginary objects.
Her recent work also features unusual 3D painting techniques where the painting can be appreciated in either 2-dimensional or 3- dimensional views, an interesting parallel on new media and traditional methods of artistic practice.
Le Roy has exhibited throughout London, including Royal Academy; she has also won many prizes including the Rebecca Hossack Gallery.
